Their fleet is not really that old in terms of age. The average fleet age of US legacy carriers is at least 15-20 years old. But I can definitely say they’re outdated.

I got hold of "decoded" lists of all these SLB leases before, and most of them are A321, and 221s. Big ones were identified. Couldn't remember all but some I can identify, as to which, like the following, if my memory serves me right:

nordic/truenoord:   Q400s
Macquarie         :    320 (8619)
Avolon              :    321 (1-3) 12,14,18
CIT aero           :    321
Dcal                 :    321
Dcal 2/DVB       :    321 (1-3)   note A333 (8765) is also DVB. PAL announce additional A330.
:                                                                  This could be it (EI-HAJ)
Fly 28              :     321
Fly 26              :     321
Ecaf/BBAM        :    321  (16)
Haitong            :     321 (1-2)
Pajun                :    21N (1-3) 33,34,36 note:35 is also Pajun
JKF                   :    21nx
CIT Group         :    333
Fly                   :     333 (1-2)
Wilmington       :     333
Ecaf                 :     333 (86)
Avation             :    77w (82)
SMBC               :    359 (08)
Nanshi/Goshawk:   359 (01) note: (3507) was also Goshawk, now with L

What is not there is  GECAS $74million claim for the 21n (35).  So it could have been paid by PNB together with other opt-out creditors. PNB exposure before is just $86 million. Now, it ballooned to $309 million. I may need to update this post when i get hold of that paper again.

As a side note, PAL stockholder Avolon signed 20 A339 orders in Paris for delivery between 2026-2028.

Outdated comparing them to its Asian competitors. And the pricing is something they have to start rethinking. Even regular flyers are already complaining about the exorbitant prices with the kind of seats you get. Some even said that a PAL business class flight to the US is more expensive than taking a Qatar Airways flight on a Qsuite business class.

that is good news for PAL as I think another A333 has gone tech... 71 hasn't flown since July 2...

That brings to four (4) the grounded PR A333s out of 10 they currently have...

77W is flying to SYD yesterday (July 7) and on July 9 and 11... and to MEL on July 13 and 14 presumably due to lack of A333s...

8782 is undergoing densification with new 359 config, I think, that 8781 had. 18/341.

Also heard board approved getting back 8765 which is in Ireland.

8765 is now EI-HAJ. Is this the additional A330 that they mentioned previously?

Air Astana will start phasing out its Embraer E190-E2s next year. The age of the fleet is under 5 years old.

During PAS I saw Stan and LT III wearing Embraer lanyards, they also take a tour of the Airbus A220-300 with AIB execs

Can PAL lease A320neo family if available? aside from getting back A330s which is essential for PAL's network

Airbus opened a new A320 family assembly line in TLS which will make PAL and 5J orders to be delivered faster than before.

Yes, they could. The problem with the neo however is its engine. After 2 years they have to service it. It would be better for them to take ceo. It is cheaper and economical. And they already have plenty of that on ground waiting for activation after maintenance parts arrives. In fact, most airline are taking ceo like 5J. The problem with 5j is that they are neo intensive unlike PAL which still has plenty ceos. That bodes well in their favor.

The French government plans to have direct Manila-Paris flights soon

Re: PAL

I understand, we will have in the near future a direct flight from Manila to Paris and that’s also in progress,”  says outgoing French Ambassador to the Philippines Michèle Boccoz.
Doesn't seem an encouraging word to me. Truth is, French government ended the airline business in 2004, much later than what Philippine government did to its airline in 1992.

If we follow recent statistics, Germany, Italy and Turkey far outranks France in passenger traffic. If we make it plausible, add a Rome or Milan stop. We can do it now. Problem is, PAL doesn't have an erplen.

C'est la vie!
