It should be competitive with other full-service airlines that offer connecting flights to US and Canada

The bigger one with the Philippines similar to RP-C8613  with white underbelly will probably be used. I'd honestly like to see a comparison with the A350-900 below while the A350-1000 on top.

I agree with a bigger Philippines. It will emphasise the brand more.

Reminds me of the B77W delivery at less the first one RP-C7777 back in 2009 which was followed by RP-C7776 next year. The only difference is their won't be a year of wait for the remainder of the aircraft like the B77W.

Rolls-Royce and Philippine Airlines sign TotalCare agreement for Trent XWB-97 engines
that will power nine Airbus A350-1000 aircraft ordered by PAL last Wednesday.

TotalCare is designed to provide operational certainty for customers by transferring time on wing and maintenance cost risk back to Rolls-Royce.

The top one is probably likely to used! wish PAL was into special livery like JAL though not colorful it could be good for marketing and additional revenue! My top pic would be 2nd one for PAL first A35K!

Philippine Airlines registered an operating income of $135.2 Million (PHP 7.4 Billion) and total comprehensive income of $108.2 Million (PHP 5.9 Billion) for the first quarter of 2023.

The $135.2M operating income in Q1 2023 is a substantial improvement from the $33.8 Million (PHP 1.7 Billion) logged by PAL in the first quarter of 2022. The positive financial performance reflects the continuing strength of the recovery of air travel.

I find the 80s retro look better on the A330 since it is similar with the A300

Philippine Airlines tells Executive Traveller they will consider new designs for all cabins for the upcoming Airbus A350-1000s.

With the first A350-1000 delivery coming in late 2025, PAL says it has ”not yet finalized” the business, premium economy and economy cabin seats and configuration.

“These decisions will follow an extensive evaluation process in the coming months.”

Re: PAL

If I recall, PAL had 6 options for the A359 when they purchased their first 6. With the recent A35K orders, were the 6 A359 options exercised for the bigger A35K or are the 6 A359 options still existent with an additional 3 A35K options?

Re: PAL

I've also been wondering about that too. I personally think they have been upsized to the bigger A350-1000 with an additional option for 3 more aircraft for a total of 18 Airbus A350 XWB (6 A350-900 & 12 A350-1000 9 firm, 3 on option), though I've also read from the blog  that Airbus may also offer the A350-900 in a discount rate as future type in absent of an order for the A330-900neo, although their is still a chance for Airbus to offer the type even if its not being considered in the future.

Its intresting to see the A35K being larger numbers then the A359 in PAL fleet, in comparison Cathay Pacific which has converted majority ot their A350-1000 to the smaller A350-900 with 28 in service and 2 more on order. While only having 18 of the bigger A350-1000.

Re: PAL

Evodesire
Here's another thing I'm trying to analyze. If PAL still has those 6 A359 options and they decide to exercise them, that will bring the total A359 fleet to 8, and given also the possibility that 4 will rejoin the fleet after their stint with LH, that will bring the total A359 fleet to 12 maybe in 5 to 6 years from now. Plus 9 A350-1000s, that will give PAL a total of 21 A350 frames. Now, considering the possibility of a 787-9 order, wouldn't it be wiser for PR to just operate an A350 - 787 widebody fleet where A359s may have 2 configurations where a few will be configured for ultra long-haul and the remaining for ME routes and Aussie? Or are the A330s such as the A330neo still best suited to do ME flights over the A350 and 787?
