Winners and Losers in the Cargo Industry

We know what it means
PALEx needs a narrowbody with more cargo capacity |
That would be Max 9 right or the 8?

PALex needs newer and more planes.
|
Well that is included
If they have a aircraft with high capacity, it is new and more than what they have now |
C7777 is flying again. Luckily they manage to repair it.
|
They are utilizing it on some domestic to mid-haul flights before the retirement of the said aircraft

Looks like it made the most out of LAX. It flew PR112/113 on its first revenue flight after the grounding, then 102/103, then 112/113, then 102/103, then 112/113, and finally 102/103 before flying regional/domestic.

CEB had a plan before to fly their ATR72-500 freighters to HKG and the authorities didn't allowed it
I guess they need some P2Fs in the fleet |

Sad to see the fall of Philippine Airlines from its best showing in 2019 at 30th best airline in the world to its 77 downfall in 2022, to 80 in 2023, to 96 in 2024. The air is really bad up there.
We predicted it well ahead of its time even before the skytrax announcement this year. They would not be there anymore next year as they would go beyond the 100 mark, notwithstanding delivery of the 35k. We hope to see reversal beginning 2026, that is if BOD cares at all. https://www.worldairlineawards.com/worlds-top-100-airlines-2024/

Rumor, yes. Stoppage no. The thing about Saudi Arabia is that only 876x planes are permitted to fly to the Kingdom. And they only have 4 of them. KSA regulatory requirements on product consistency. So they cannot field other aircraft offering other products there when these planes goes AOM. Which is good for passengers. Actually, its the same story in the olden days when a 742 is not permitted to sub for the 342s. While the airline is in dire straits, fleet wise, they still managed to get good loads.
The story about 7784 is that its lease was delayed because of PAL financial woes. Not that they are not earning, but their projections fell short causing them to delay an expense item, which in this case, operating another triple seven. Which caused them to lose more money. We have a term for that, stupidity paradox. “Functional Stupidity” happens when individuals at workplace who are intelligent and with excellent qualifications stop questioning about their work. They become stupid. The same thing you see nowadays with Boeing, always focusing on corporate earnings. Corporate managers only focus on the technical prospect of the job and while doing it they stop thinking on a broader term of the implication or end result of its decision because of the BOD action. These are the type of people who even get promoted for following ill-conceived corporate demands, and not questioning whether its right or not, on fears of corporate backslash. The previous President and COO did a splendid job on Chapter 11. Yet, he was shown the door. If you don't get that I don't know what will. Fits perfectly well for PAL current culture.

There is still a full winter and summer timetable before the first A35K arrives. And that’s only one. How’s the A321 reconfig going? Ganito nalang ba forever? A global recession is looming, and travel demand might slow down with it. So that might temper the need for new planes… but at the same time, PAL has no means of growth at all. |

Well explained and my thoughts exactly on Functional Stupidity such a damned corporate culture |

What I also pointed out before. PAL was at the top of their game in 2019. Awards here, awards there. And they were getting the best feedback. The time when JJB only had to contend with one Tan. And I am not discounting the possibility that Cebu Air might seize the opportunity to put up a legacy subsidiary to contend with PAL. It's not far from happening. The PAL crew feels the BOD are just waiting for the old man to go, and thats it for PAL. |

Total opposite of what's happening to 5J. |
