5J is agressively adding and introducing flights for their winter schedule.

Already in the the booking engine but not yet announced is a 4x per week  DVO-HK-DVO (S,M,W,F).  Flight times are very good. Leaving DVO at 820am. Then leaving HK at 1235pm.

and what are these new orders?

outside the 9+3 and the 13neos?

I remember in one of the articles quoting CSN, the B777 will co-exist with the 35Ks. If that idea will still be put to practice - hope they refurbish the B777s and serve as the replacement for the ageing 330s

Would be great to see those B777s flying the MidEast, Australia, and back to Europe.

if PAL will be left with just 6 B777s - just like the status when the 359s came in...so why not?
In as much PAL wants to go for an all-Airbus fleet, there is such thing as geopolitics. Especially as of now, we don't know who the new US president will, hence, ordering Boeings are still a must.

The only problem PAL has now with the 787s is the delivery time compared to the A330neo. However, they do recognize the range capabilities of the 787-10 and importance of going for a plane with newer technology compared to the A330neo.

So lets see.

4 of PAL’s 77Ws are still very young and have a decade or so in them. So it won’t be an all-airbus fleet anytime soon even if they do order Airbus frames.

Also 2P getting 737s can also pay lip service to geopolitics.

Finally, if Boeing can improve the range of the 777-9x, we could see it in PAL’s fleet in the future.

fresh from that HNL A330 from LAX.

Just so happens a colleague was on it. They got an email informing them of change in aircraft and new seat assignment totally discounting the fact that they purchased extra legroom seats. Upon checking in they were still not entertained on the USD 100 each they paid for the ELS, until a supervisor stepped in and upgraded them to premium economy.

It was chaotic, the bottled water in boxes that were catered in were place on the leg space of seats with no passengers in the premium economy - there was no storage left for catering supplies (talk about safety huh)

then came the service - and crew looked so exhausted and without gusto about their job

in conclusion - they all agreed NEVER AGAIN WITH PAL

and they come from a huge community of heavy travelers. It is just disappointing when we lose patrons of the flag carrier due to what basically is PAL is all about.

And a footnote: there has been talks about more Wamos Air potential taking part of the Middle East Flights.

Anyone from PAL here: please have pity on the Flag Carrier and sound the FIRE ALARM

PAL managed to provide an A321NEO for a last-minute charter to pick up the athletes.

Does this mean that they have fewer AOG among the NEOs? Are the PW engine issues resolved?

It was 9930 who did the flight, actively flying with 9934 and 9935.

No. 1 rule in airline business, Never say "NO" to the government. That is a free flight courtesy of PAL. But they are not gloating about it, other than Yulo's free miles and massive goodwill boost. That can't be bought nor can it be quantified.

Remember the PBBM flight to Washington DC with 77w last year? It resulted to SFO and LAX flight disruptions, and additional workload for the A333. And PAL just said yes.

Remember too it was the government that keep PAL afloat during pandemic by awarding it repatriation, and covid flights. NOt much but it kept airline alive.

Most of all, it is one of its owners

Haha he looks excited from his statements to the media perhaps

I think he wants to make the order now and execute other improvements but he is now facing a wall, other people faced that too in the past

Looks like Air France will get a headstart vs PAL on mounting flights to CDG

https://business.inquirer.net/475023/biz-buzz-coming-soon-direct-flights-to-paris

San Miguel should also lobby KLM as well, upgrade MNL-AMS to a Direct Flight

A revenge of SMC to PAL🤔🤔🤔

If that is the case Air France can set its foot in Manila and solidify its grip on that route that can give a hard time for PAL for that market

They can also allow other European airlines to start Manila flights if they want

PAL cannot counter it for now due to lack of aircraft, and when the time they have the aircraft already, they will have a hardtime

That’s what happens when you are happy to rest on your laurels. The fruits of complacency

Not so fast.

SMC does not control the slots. Nor is MIAA. There are many applicants. Only United got through. American, Aeromexico and Hawaiian did not.

I would like to think Lufthansa would get the slot for EU. They are not also the only applicant. There is British Airways, TAP Portugal, Iberia, Swiss, and the latest on the list, Air France.

Once Bulacan opens, there will be alot of slots open. I guess they rejected because NAIA slots are very limited. CAB would probably wait for NMIA before being flexible with slots
