INSIDER INFO: Who owns that jet used to ferry ex-President Duterte to The Hague?
Well.. word among the aviation industry cognoscenti is that the plane was, as of last year, owned by another billionaire taipan who also has a number of planes and helicopters in his private fleet.

But this captain of industry (in Tagalog… uhmm… Kapitan ng industriya?) is advancing in age and has since relinquished the day-to-day running of his empire to a young scion who isn’t big on planes. In fact, their helicopter fleet is gathering dust, we hear.

In speaking of LT, PAL had a town hall earlier in the eve of its 84 years anniversary

They can have all the townhalls and boasting of OTP as much as they want. As long as there is no imminent massive plane order on the horizon, I doubt they would even go past 90 years.

What they need the most is narrowbody capacity, they have existing A321neo orders, and there still isnt a delivery schedule for those. Funny.

At least some of their grounded fleet are slowly coming back online. But that's about it.

There are a lot of internal things happening inside PAL after those loyal to LT are leaving PAL because Carmen is now taking control. Rumors also has it that the Captain is now merely a figurehead in PAL and that the real "President" is the family lawyer of the Tans, whose main purpose is to protect the airline from being taken over from the other families of LT. According to a bibwit, Carmen and the BOD does not want to release money anymore for plane orders. However, PAL has lost so much money already due to maintenance costs, cancelled flights, wet leases, and declining number of routes, all brought by the BOD's stand to no longer order planes and to just use whatever they have, plus the 9 A35Ks and 13 A321Ns.

But with the way PAL is currently being run right now, its not something far from really happening. PAL is such in a sorry state now.

Average age of their A320s (PALex) is 15.5 years. And they continue to lose customers as most would rather take BuPak due to better experience and lower fares. At least BuPak's planes have charging ports. And their planes are brand new.

That is concerning it seem self-sabotage what the BOD is doing? (If true!), why are they doing it is another question. But the longer PAL wait the longer it will face disadvantage against Cebu Pacific and Philippine Air Asia. It's just baffling they would hold back any new orders unless the plan is to sell PAL to another company maybe Cebu Air, Inc. The parent company of Cebu Pacific and CebGo?!

The "rumors" say that the Tan women are just waiting for Kapitan to go, maybe the reason why they no longer want to shell out money. That's why its better for the Tans to let go of PAL as early as now if this is the case, than to wait for LT to go and sell it. What if LT lives another 5 years. They'll wait for another 5 years and simply cut costs by short changing passengers and keeping fares high, maintaining a mediocre kind of service? If they really want to save PAL, then sell it. If Kapitan wishes PAL to remain with the family, then shell out money for new planes.

The solution is simple.

Does anyone know if the rumor that Delta will launch LAX-MNL this year (or soon) has any merit?

Integration will happen on March 24. Seems like the brand will continue to exist for a while longer but flights will now be book on 5J's website and app and will use the 5J system.

PR has been doing Jeju charters for years so this isn't really much of a big deal.

Nope. You'll know they are flying when they file intent to fly. No petition to fly has been filed up to this date. They just content themselves with their KE joint venture via ICN. If you remember, KE night flight used to DAL slot.

Air India, MNL flights will be launched Summer 2025
Not 2025. Most likely 2026. I still have to see their petition. Not unless they would do the AF route (talk directly to the President) again. There is an existing order (prohibition) to avoid repetition of the AF route by airlines. They should seek first the slot at MIAA, have it approve by ACA in Oz before filing permit to fly. ACA rules require 1 season advance notice.

Actually, they are cooking something big, maybe not as big as CEB, but cooking still. Of course we know what they are.

Re: Airlines

Doesn't have to be as big as CEB. As long as it entails the replacement of all the old A320s and future replacements for those A330s, plus additional capacity. And enough of those "OFW cabin" and "Aussie cabin", they should have one consistent product! OFWs also deserve to experience premium cabins!
