Side note on the ex-Garuda B777-300ER.

Was looking at a trip report online and It looks like AVOD is working now, at least in Economy, and that they switched all the economy upholstery to PAL's standard fabric and colors (no brown). Its so weird that they didn't prioritize redoing everything all at once instead of the piecemeal speed since acquiring it.

Maybe a good analogy of the slow-decision making process that we've been talking on here? Its interesting because in all the interviews i've listened with Capt. Stan, it seems like he wants to create a proactive and collaborative organization that isn't afraid of some discourse if its to improve the organization. Seems like that dream might be an age away...

Sometimes the online trip reports are depressing, especially the ones made by Indonesians, Malaysians, and Thais. You’ll see them get on the old A321ceos then they’ll show the long transit lines at NAIA 1 only to get to another A321ceo. Then there’s a comment from PAL thanking them for their patronage.

So, are we going to hear an order from PAL this year, on top of the 3 A35K options they are exercising? Also, is this order quantity the same as what JJB wanted in 2018?

Even if we hear an order from PAL it will be nothing of a monumental number that is for sure.

Did PAL really refurbish the cabin of 8786? She is flying lately and I know it takes months to reconfigure a cabin. Also, PAL did come up with PR that says that the plane is in a tri-class layout. Anyone got pictures? Hope they really keep those IFEs especially if they want to brand themselves as premium and they want to justify the high fares.
Newly refurbish A330-300 (8786) is coming back to service and arriving this afternoon from Amman Jordan with spanking new seats. It now has 9 (3-3-3) abreast from the former 8 (2-4-2) abreast. Less denser than the ME bound 63x. A new lease of life for another 6 years, ending 2030. PAL is preparing the long Boeing cue.

What PAL should also consider in the future is the possibility of CRK and CEB becoming a transit hub basing on the developments happening. Cebu Pacific is preparing for this already, not only NMIA. They forecast huge growth for both airports, this is why they are going for a monumental order of 150 planes.

So are they using the same seats with IFEs or the "SMC" seats?

878x IFEC were third generation, having been bought in 2014. It would be illogical to change seats with the same IFEC system. Most likely they would be running the 4th gen, similar to the A350. After all they will be operating it for another 6 years. The IFEC for the upcoming A35K is 5th gen.

If they will have IFEs on these newly reconfigured more dense A330s, that would be good news. I hope this new config will bring favorable numbers and feedback. I was hoping that the 876X buses would be reconfigured similarly too but as of now, there are no plans of working on those planes.

They just have a 3-3-3 reconfiguration with same IFEs?

So they will not stay for much longer than planned I think

At least better than having those 876X seats. So I guess they just removed PECY and configured it to 3-3-3. Hope this model works well.

So just a 3-3-3 configuration using the same seats with IFEs? Or nothing was changed?

only 81 and 83 is undergoing refit for 359 seats, a 1 row less seat than the 6x which has 368 for the premium leg room, not the 86, but will turn out to be like 6x, yaks

It’s 81 and 82, Modified triclass. You get the business class of the 878X series but the ECY of the 876X series.

Yipes! Why didn't they follow the modified tri-class config? Wasn't this originally a triclass? If so, why the step backward?
