Yes building a new terminal for an LCC will be easier who knows if it will look like the one in Caticlan but it is bigger

Angelito “Lito” Alvarez, general manager of SMC-backed New Manila International Corp., shared updates during the Economic Journalists Association of the Philippines-SMC aviation forum on Monday, ahead of the takeover on Sept. 14 this year.
Alvarez said the consortium, which includes Incheon Airport of South Korea, will build a new passenger terminal to increase capacity. Near-term plans include transforming Naia terminal 2 into a pure domestic gateway. Terminal 1 will be used by Philippine Airlines and foreign carriers that were assigned to Terminal 1 will be moved to Terminal 3, which will also host Cebu Pacific and AirAsia flights. Alvarez said some Cebu Pacific flights will also be moved to Terminal 2. Consultants have been tapped to review the assignments, he said. Also under review is the transfer of turboprop operations to Clark International Airport in Pampanga, about an hour and a half north of Manila. None of this is new. And all the terminals are overcapacity as it is; how will they cram 5J flights into T2 without building an expansion? Will they start cramming passengers into buses one hour before boarding like they do in caticlan? I’ll believe any improvements when I see it. So far, it just looks like SMC will just sit and collect terminal fees. |

As was stated in this forum a while back in the thread, the new T2 Annex will become domestic together with T2 with 5J as anchor. No new information disclosed here. T2 is already domestic. While T1 is already PAL. As was told before, T3 will become International.

According to NNIC general manager Angelito Alvarez, the group had already engaged with several consultants regarding the reassignment of terminals being used by airlines to improve passenger experience and boost flight efficiency.
“This is something that will surely happen,” he said during the EJAP-SMC Aviation Forum in Makati City. Under its plan, NNIC said NAIA Terminal 1 will be used by flag carrier Philippine Airlines, while Terminal 2 will be a purely domestic terminal, including those of Cebu Pacific. Terminal 3 will cater to all the foreign airlines currently operating in Terminal 1. Terminal 4, meanwhile, will cater to AirAsia flights that are currently in Terminal 2. “With regards to the terminal reassignment, the end-state will happen only in about two years once the Terminal 2 extension will be completed,” Alvarez said. He noted, however, that this would be a gradual process due to the space limitation, with the first phase involving AirAsia moving from Terminal 2 to Terminal 4. The vacated wing will then accommodate Cebu Pacific which will move from Terminal 3. The space left in Terminal 3 will then be occupied by foreign airlines that are operating in Terminal 1. “It will be a gradual process. That’s the best that we can do at this point in time. As I stated earlier, things can only normalize once this Terminal 2 extension is completed,” Alvarez said.
