This might be also them panicking that MH is entertaining A321NEOs.

Anyway, the original Air Philippines which had the 2P tag operated 737 classics in their heyday. Maybe there’s still hope that the 737 will come back to 2P

A lot of issues with Boeing lately, dragging out deliveries. FAA investigations, strikes, and a furlough.

Now that is IF PAL still has plans to order planes. The crew is very upset about how PAL is lately being managed. And am I sensing another shake-up? It seems like the Captain has been on the sidelines while LT3 is now gaining the spotlight.

I hope LT3 also shows up when there are huge problems like flight cancellations, AOGs, etc., so they can own up to all these problems as a result of their reactive and conservative decision-making.

the "family" does not give a s*#t about its people and its' passengers - it is all about the revenue and their ancillaries that is basically milking the airline dry is doing so well to say the least.

and yes, the internal customers are not happy at all - they tend to be the solution to most of the complains on issues beyond them like fleet and its hard products on board.

What stupid news. The highlight is not the Kapitan wall. People will not go there to honor and worship Kapitan. People going to the museum are interested in learning about aviation and PAL's history. The Kapitan wall is just there to please the Tans, nothing more.

Cebu Pacific receives 11th aircraft for the year

Cebu Pacific Air (CEB), the Philippines’ leading carrier, reported that it has received another A320neo, its 11th aircraft delivery for the year.

Last month, Cebu Pacific reported that it had received the delivery of three aircraft in quick succession so it can further boost its operational resilience and meet the resurgent demand for air travel.

The airline said the newly accepted aircraft that touched down at the NAIA in Manila included an A330neo, which arrived on July 26, and an A320neo and A320ceo delivered on Aug. 3 and 4, respectively.

Almost a week before the Aviation Summit 2024, if there is no news about PAL's order then the airline is really not on track for a smooth future

As of this point, PAL's future is bleak. They are banking too much on the A35K orders. The results of their being too passive have been manifesting. A lot of AOGs, cancelled flights, techs, and pax complaints.

They are now an airline Filipinos cannot be proud of.

If they dont get 7784 this month, PAL is in HUGE trouble this coming holiday season.

I doubt. If ever they would, it would be for 3 A35K.options. But Im not expecting that either.

My radars are on Cebu Pacific. I sense another big announcement is coming.

Is this one of those subtle clues we should be expecting an announcement in 2025?

https://aviationweek.com/mro/aircraft-propulsion/philippine-airlines-eyeing-2025-next-fleet-decision

To ensure commonality and cater to passengers’ demands, PAL will start the retrofit of 18 A321ceos in mid-2025 with similar A321neo products, including inflight entertainment (IFE). The program will be completed by 2027.

PAL has opted not to retrofit its nine Boeing 777-300ERs given the leases for those aircraft are close to expiring.

Narcisco said to look and plan beyond 2028, the airline must decide by 2025 if it should refleet or retrofit aircraft such as the Airbus A330 or Dash 8 turboprops

Also, we shouldn’t always blame the board for blocking things. Yes, they have a fiduciary duty to the shareholders and could be very much aligned with the financial interests of the family. But consider this as well. To get big ticket strategic initiatives approved, you still need to have a compelling case and convince them that your decisions are for the well being of the company. Maybe leadership is not convincing the board that their plans make financial sense as well?

When I look at the board, I don’t see a lot of people with customer service/hospitality/aviation experience and in some ways, it takes a lot more charm and personality, along with good strategy to get things moving. I could see how JJB probably got things passed. Being a numbers guy but also having experience, personal knowledge of the board, how they think, and presenting plans & numbers in a certain way, may have helped him gain more latitude, especially considering the previous refleeting & brand elevation program.

Maybe the pandemic and the bankruptcy has still stifled any risk the board once had but hasn’t had anyone present a compelling argument to move forward again

That’s my two cents…

I would hope that the technical people in fleet planning and route planning know how to make a simple cost-benefit analysis, and that those in sales are also able to illustrate the lost revenues from planes not flying. All they can announce at this time is that they’ll figure it out in 2025? Again, what miracle will magically give them working planes if they do nothing for the rest of the year?

Meanwhile, I’ve stopped caring. I have no reason to fly PAL, and my business can go, has gone, and will go elsewhere.
