There is also a PAL presentation. It would be nice if someone stole a picture of it and post it here.

Lets include this on memories of Boeing's attempt to enter more in the Philippine market

Is that a Boeing 737 Max 200 (B737 Max 8)?

Where now that Airbus has won the contract! As for PAL I expect they will probably stick with AB too, it will be GAP that I'm more interested if they will be going back with Boeing with the B737 Max 9 or remain with Airbus?

As per CEB employees their huge order will be delivered from 2029 onwards

The question is if PAL ordered the neos it will be delivered on 2030 onwards. If the consumers and the airline itself are willing to wait for the neo they will still choose the neos even their A320s are now getting old both inside and out

The max order is tied with the Dreamliner. So discount applies if both are taken. At mono it would definitely be operated by GAP. Mainline still has 13 pw powered 21n order coming in two years time. Delivery is slated for 2028. Perhaps this is one coming from lessors. So I think we would see PAL Boeing plane first than CEB. Interestingly, the last A35k delivery is scheduled for early 2028. So we could see an October delivery schedule in time for the winter schedule, similar to the 84.

USD 24B talk about an impressive credit track record and polished management skills at the helm so congratulations to 5J

perhaps people from PAL can learn something from this.

PW owes 5J big time. I wonder what kind of deal they got. Because all the other airlines are flocking to CFM.

In any case, this order is huge. By 2029, ideally, the NSCR would already be up and running, making CRK ideal to take on the exponential growth we’ve seen at NAIA. Not to mention growth at CEB. It’s exciting to see what kind of routes they’ll develop with all these planes.

If they want to really make a marketing blitz, they should reveal the A35K cabin. First delivery is already next year; shouldn’t the orders for the seats and the cabins be finalized by now? They can do a teaser like CX did with Aria. Then all the avgeek bloggers will be making article after article guessing the seatmaker.  Also give the west coast passengers something to look forward to as a competitor to Polaris.

They will post about the 9 A35Ks and 13 A21Ns for delivery. Versus 152 plane orders from Cebu Pacific.

And others feel PAL is on a downfall while Cebu Pacific is on the rise.

Strictly speaking, Cebu Pacific has been PH’s largest carrier for over a decade now. Very well-managed and competitive in the middle of a region dominated by the Air Asia group and Jetstar in their market segment.

They’ve kept things simple, and it has paid off.

They’ve avoided connecting itineraries, fifth freedom flights, more longhaul destinations, but at the same time they’ve been aggressive in serving regional destinations. They were in many ASEAN cities before PAL was, and they have so many flights into both BKK and DMK, making them the biggest player in the Manila-Bangkok route.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Tuesday welcomed Cebu Pacific’s (CEB) multi-billion dollar plan to acquire new aircraft from Airbus, the largest aircraft order in Philippine aviation history.

The President told CEB officials during their courtesy call in Malacañang Tuesday that their plan “is a very good sign” for the Philippine economy.

“It gives us great deal of encouragement that if we get it right, we can actually get something done and make the transformation of our economy. Make it happen,” President Marcos said.

The order, according to CEB Chief Executive Officer Michael Szucs, is an indication of the company’s confidence in the Philippine economy.

“This is an enormously a bold step. We wouldn’t be doing it without having confidence in the direction the country is going,” Szucs told President Marcos.

The CEB officials led by Lance Gokongwei, president and CEO of JG Summit Holdings, Inc., which owns Cebu Pacific, informed President Marcos of its investment plans and government support to keep the Philippine aviation industry competitive.

I wouldn't call it downfall rather a decline would be a more appropriate term IMHO. What PAL really needs is a new direction and a strong leader to guide it if the current thread continue it will eventually lead to their downfall (Which is what I worry).

It now seems like Cebu Pacific is our flag carrier and PAL is just a second banana filler. Indeed, the effects of being too conservative, playing it too much on the safe side, backward thinking, and family mismanagement.

A blockbuster order from PAL will spell the difference. For now, other are worried about PAL's future, including me. Unless they discuss a clear direction, and they change their ways, including that of the Tan family sticking their noses in too much, then a repeat of 1998 is imminent. They try to avoid a repeat of 1998 by being too conservative and cocky, without knowing that that is where they are heading if they continue their present ways.

I also like new aircraft orders too! I've been waiting since last year for the A330-300 replacement and hope it will come to fruition this year. Though I don't expect it will be in the same scale as CEB with 152 more likely it will be smaller either 1/3 38 or just 19! Since their only 12-13 A320 withing GAP fleet. Also it will likely be complemented by the B787 Dreamliner to replace the A330.

LT Group at the heart of it don't like spending money, unless they absolutely need to in my observation.

As an example, didn't they only launch online booking in like, 2005/06? They were already late to the game when that was the industry norm. It seems like they only do what's necessary to get by until they absolutely need to... As much as the SMC era brought the "cheap" era of PAL, at least they were aggressive enough to buy aircraft in large numbers. They probably would've learned from that bad decision of no AVOD and LLC style seats and eventually offer more premium products if they felt they were losing competitiveness in the region.

At the root of it though, maybe when the figurehead steps down and eventually passes, there will be a psychological shift in culture. I have a feeling there's still an unspoken internal presence directing PAL and probably all the companies which in all honesty, is holding them back. Until then, it seems like they always need an outside presence to push them to take action and/or fix their ways.
