Two words.

Indigo Partners. With 255 Airbus orders plus 105, would P&W not listen?

They also questioned why 5J can source parts despite neo groundings. The airline is heavily reliant to LTP while 5J has other contacts to tap on for parts.

Some people in the airline also mentioned that the order of 5J is "very alarming"
Perhaps, its time for PAL to open up to other bigger airlines like ANA and relinquish its management control. APG is officially a Malaysia-based airline now, while 5J is part of the Indigo Airline Group.

They mentioned that the delivery of first A35K is slated on september 2025 and the A321neos will resume delivery on the same year as well.
What do you suspect of this announcement?

Officially, 21n are supposed to arrive 2026 by "Contract Amendments". Airbus just don't amend contract without concession. By agreeing to deliver earlier than contractually bound with full delivery slots taken, Airbus must have conceded something in return. I'm speculating and it looks very suspicious.

But I want to hear what is your take?

Changes happened thats what they said about their aircraft orders. My source is expecting for something else but the airline just talked about the A35K and A321neo order stating that both will start to arrive next year

What was announced was A35K will be September 2025 while the A21Ns are 2026, 13 frames, unless there’s something new that the ManComm isn’t disclosing to their employees during yesterday’s townhall. On top of that, they are “finalizing” on which aircraft they are gonna order. Hopefully, they can announce it during the next townhall.

Speaking of old aircraft

Korean Air 747 freighter will arrive tonight in Manila with CFM56 engines for A320ceo

Their A320s already undergo 6 engine change in 2 months

Maintenance schedules are usually timed during lean months when there are fewer passengers. Its between June to October, very wet season. AOG aircraft usually goes back online by October. PAL is handling schedules beyond its fleet capacity, lean season notwithstanding. Before covid a replacement aircraft is available within a day. After covid replacement aircraft is available the next day. They really are in dire straits fleet wise. But the BOD put its foot down. What can you do?
Biggest failure of PAL.

The expected A321ceo cabin recon is also mentioned

Majority in PAL peeps are alarmed and worried about the 5J order, not for 5J, but themselves. Even the pilots themselves praised 5J for such order. But then again, you have the Tans shrugging it off, and then later on coming up with some BS like "Philippine Airlines is the Philippines and it is our father's dream to make the airline grow....". F*ck that!

Cebu Pacific

If you see domestic operations, there are 2-3 CEB flights for every GAP flight. How can a fleet of 17 jet aircraft compete with 50 jets allocated for domestic operations. CEB and GAP reached parity in 2018. GAP deliveries halt while CEB planes keep coming. Now, AGP is coming to their doorstep with a fleet of 13.

I still don't know what will knock some senses into the PAL BOD. If there is any hope. It's like they keep saying "we are different." Like hello, no matter what, CEB and PAA are still airlines.

Its not just the Tans but also the lessor who are within the BOD it would be great if they are off through selling their stakes to other conglomerates to give PAL some more freedom especially owing aircrafts!

Honestly I don't mind ANA Holdings taking a larger stake in PAL Holdings  with the former more likely, I especially think their operations best suits PAL operation at less they don't opearte like an LCC like how LT treats both PAL & GAP!
