Flag carrier Philippine Airlines is rolling out refurbished Airbus A321ceos as part of its fleet modernization push.

The first upgraded jet enters service tomorrow, with two more arriving this year.

Each aircraft carries 182 economy and 12 business class seats, for a total of 194, fitted with Pinnacle seats for economy from Collins Aerospace.

This is the first time PAL is using seats manufactured by Filipinos at its Batangas factory.

In all, 18 refurbished A321ceos will join the fleet through 2027, serving key regional routes including Japan, Jakarta, and Guam.

Same sentiment but I was able to try JX’s A321neo fitted with 3 lavs at the rear, it was tight as hell. Half to 3/4’s of the standard width of lavs. Plus, seat pitch for bcl was increased and additional 1 inch for each ecy seats.

Very beautiful indeed! As someone who flies PAL monthly, this is a nice upgrade from aged seats. Hope to fly with one soon!

If you think about it, refurbs was 8 years in the making. It was always deferred due to tight financial space. Now they are buying it, and reducing seat count by 5.

We all know 2 A330s are on the refurb blocks too.

What I'd like to hear is whether BOD has already approve the 77w refurb options. That should be a great news.

I’m a little disappointed that they went with Collins MIQ with 45” pitch for business but they still chose a basic seat with not that many features. The best application of MiQ is Cathay Pacific’s A321neo.

Unfortunately paywall article

Philippine Airlines (PAL) is about to resume its fleet growth and renewal program with new deliveries; the carrier is also planning to make further aircraft replacement decisions later this year.

I’m not a fan of CX’s cocoon type of seats or fixed seatback. I read articles on what type of J seats are installed on their A21Ns. the privacy shade is nice to have for privacy if you are a solo traveler.

That is not new. It has been known in this forum before. We all know that. Thanks to confirmation by Stan. What is not known is when would they announced their preferred aircraft. Even the best avnews source is clueless. When the time comes, maybe we could break it even faster than the media.

Cebu Pacific

Cebu Pacific CEO Mike Szucs says the carrier plans to moderate its rapid expansion next year. That's as it manages challenges from Pratt & Whitney’s global engine supply issues, which are grounding more of its Airbus SE planes than anticipated.

Will those 777s also get premium economy? I heard that PAL's direction now is to establish a consistent cabin throughout the fleet. I guess the Brit President is now making sense to the Tans.

Also, whats going to happen to those A330s? Will those SMC-interior A330s be finally getting a tri-class upgrade? Or maybe bi-class still but now with seatback IFEs?

PAL's A330s have been receiving bad reviews, and their product inconsistency feels like playing lottery whenever you take a PAL A330 flight.

does PR have a plan to update its safety video? SQ and MH just released an updated version of their safety video featuring their FAs and country's tourist spots.
