I think they are not yet completed as the next batch are not yet announced.
This is what making me wonder. 8781 is still in LTP. They say it will be a hybrid. Lie flat business class with IFEs, basically the same on the tri-class A330s, but economy class is that of the 3-3-3 bi-class. 8782 is now a hybrid also from being a tri-class. And if we are to consider it, there are now 3 layouts for PAL's A330s which is causing much frustration to passengers because they dont know what kind of product they are getting. Considering that the A321-200s are now getting new seats, those A330s also need to, and yes, I agree those RSA cabins have to go.

The former tri-class birds are 8782 and 8781 by looking at the plugged windows and the antenna. 8771 is one of the bi-class RSA birds.

Azorra has finalised the sale of two Boeing 777-300ER aircraft to FPG Amentum, a Dublin-based aircraft asset manager. The aircraft, with manufacturer serial numbers 61730 and 61731, will remain on lease to Philippine Airlines (PAL), the national carrier of the Philippines.

Eliane Cotran, Vice President – Commercial at Azorra, commented: “The sale of these Boeing 777-300ERs demonstrates Azorra’s ability to trade across a diverse range of asset types. By leveraging strong industry partnerships, transactions such as this are central to executing our growth strategy and redeploying capital into areas where we see the greatest opportunities. We extend our thanks to the FPG Amentum team for their collaboration throughout this transaction.”

Damon Connery, Chief Operating Officer at FPG Amentum, added: “We are delighted to partner with Azorra on the acquisition of these two Boeing 777-300ER aircraft currently on lease to PAL. This transaction underlines our ongoing commitment to investing in high-quality, in-demand assets, while supporting leading carriers such as Philippine Airlines. We value the constructive approach taken by Azorra and look forward to developing this partnership further in the future.”

So those this mean PAL will only have 2 A350-900 for the foreseeable future with no plans to acquire a potential replacement for 3503, 3504, 3506 & 3507?

Considering the capacity and cost of the A359 maybe it will be exclusively used for the U.S. East Coast (JFK, and potentially ORD) and Central Canada (YYZ). So any expansion will likely be limited and if the 3 per aircraft rule is followed? B787-9 could become PAL backbone particularly for launching trans-pacific flights from CEB and European expansion from MNL.

PAL was supposed to add more seats on their two remaining A359s, from 295 to 313. But this didn't happen. I was looking at an angle for more flexibility during low seasons, and for PAL to be able to add more daily capacity. 382-seater A35K and 295 seater A359 to like LAX or SFO during low days. Or maybe Cebu to LAX while those 789s can be used for regionals and ME, Oceania, and Hawaii.

So based on what Arianespace said with regard to two A330s being retrofitted, are these the hybrids? Honestly, PAL should end that thing of having different products for different markets. Not only is it hurting their brand, but OFWs feel its discrimination because why do Aussie routes get A330s with IFEs while ME routes that carriers OFWs dont have. Then when you have to rotate planes, you are limited because of inconsistent product. While I do understand that PAL wants to drop fares to compete with ME carriers, but their passenger feedback and experience is not good. Some people now would rather avoid flying PAL due to product inconsistency rather than trying to play "lottery".

Re: Philippine Airlines

I agree I belived PAL should standerdized its A330-300 into two different configuration 359-seats bi-class for high-demand middle east or regional asian routes along with domestic routes and 309-seat tri-class for high-premium hawaii, australia and regiona routes like SIN, HKG, HND, etc.

Although I'm not the biggest fan of the 9-abreast layout 3-3-3 I think PAL should at least make the seat pitch 32" as a minimum along with adding In-seat IFE to at least make a consistent product IMHO.

Also for future replacement the B787-10 would be ideal 1:1 replacement for the Bi-class A330 maybe 7~9 aircraft along with 12+ B787-9 to replace the tri-class A333 and additional 4~6 A350-900 and the 3 A350-1000 option for a total 39 to 32 Wide-body jets in PAL fleet consisting of a mixed of Airbus A350 XWB and Boeing 787 Dreamliner

It really seems like Philippine Airlines needs to be more consistent with its product and service across all markets. If there’s strong demand on Middle East routes, especially from OFWs, why not add more flights or at least provide the same level of quality as other routes? In the long run, this inconsistency only hurts PAL’s brand integrity.

That’s probably why they remain a 3- to 4-star carrier (consistency matters). I just hope PAL shows the same level of respect to OFWs and not be racist toward them. That’s their hard-earned money, and they also deserve a comfortable and relaxing flight too, regardless of the ticket price or destination.

Yes, these are the hybrids (359 seater). Looking at FR24, they were recently deployed to SYD and MEL. Really sad that they were reconfigured when they can extend the premium offering and exclusively deploy them to DXB.

Makes me wanna fly Qantas or connect through HKG or SIN instead of flying direct on PAL I'd prefer flying on Scoot B787 over Cebu Pacific A330-900neo just for a slightly wider seat!

there is no high or low season to and from the US anymore. PR can get their plane full especially in front whole year round, well maybe not 100% LF in J but around 90% I'm estimating. Except in recent months, PR is flying US-MNL on a very very light load because there has been words circulating in the US that Filipinos with resident status may get denied entry back to the US even with valid documents because of Trumps crackdown on illegal migration. So Filipinos are scared to leave the US nowadays.

For middle east, ECY is packed to the brim with the bi-class while J are almost always empty, maybe not more than 5 seats occupied, except prolly DXB, but the rest of ME flights are Y full and empty J.

Seems like it. I saw the company, KBYO Media who looks like it publishes it now post a job on Linkedin for an intern for the magazine. Upon further investigation, the Managing editor started the role in May, so they must’ve been planning this relaunch for awhile

Seems like a missed opportunity to also have Collins seats for economy in order to further boost the local factory.
