Scoot will introduce SIN-ILO flights in the next few months taking advantage of their E190s

About the E190… while it can make a few turboprop routes work, it has the range to open up new international routes for MNL, CRK, and CEB. Maybe even SGY. If they do decide to get them Embraers, it would be very versatile. They can make ports like HAN and SGN double-daily to connect with their US services. They can even start routes like VTE or REP. They can experiment with the Indian market again with low-cost 5th freedom from BKK. Perhaps they can even explore the likes of DRW or return to Chinese cities where there is still some demand. They can kill several birds with one stone with such a versatile aircraft that is already available now. If they want to stop losing market share to 5J, this is low—hanging fruit
E190 do work wonders for thin routes. It now works in DVO and CEB and soon ILO too.
yes it does.

Scoot  already flies to DVO twice on some days. Even with the the additional flights, i heard that flights are still booked to the brim. I also heard that Scoot is going to do double daily during summer time.

I saw comments saying that CTS flights are only loaded until March. Is CTS seasonal or did they just forget to open flights for next season in their system?

Well, the main draw of CTS is snow and skiing, and that’s seasonal, so…

Could be, but Hokkaido is a good place to visit even when it's not winter. Went there before in May, so spring rather than winter, but it was still pretty cold yet enjoyable. Good food as well.

In a meet and greet with planespotters Philippine Airlines commented on some questions the majority wants to know

On A330 replacement:
"No concrete plans. It’s either replace or reconfigure but it depends on situations they didn't disclosed. If they really need planes, they will go the Airbus route according to the airline. Boeing is prone to delays and quality issues according to them.

On “whats the biggest thing we will see from PAL this year”
-New routes that they didn't specified where
-New orders "hopefully"
-Arrival of the first A35K

- Will also undergo cabin retrofit with interior design similar to the incoming A35K - though I'm personally quite skeptical about this since the incoming A35K will replace the B777 1:1. Wifi for all class will also be available.
Confirmed straight from the horses mouth not otherwise called PAL. Avation PLC has announced that the early termination option for the lease of a Boeing 777-300ER with Philippine Airlines has not been exercised, ensuring the lease will continue until December 2029

So basically, A330neos will replace the A330s, and if ever they order 787s (which seems unlikely based on what you mentioned about quality/delays), they won't be direct A330 replacements?

Re: PR Fleet

The A330NEO is the only widebody with delivery slots within the next two years. Boeing hasn’t had a very easy time recently.

If PAL decides to order them now, they can get the whole fleet replaced by 2027 if they wanted.

They can also hedge. Order ten A330NEOs with shorter leaseback terms while also placing an order for the 787-10. But I don’t think they’re willing to spend that much money.

They can also just order 787s now and hope that their fleet survives until delivery.

If PAL gets the NEO, I hope they get rid of LCC hi-density layouts. The lower operating costs should in theory make up for a less dense cabin.

Anyway, no matter what they choose, it’s important that they actually choose and stop kicking the can down the road.

Currently only C9932 is not yet flying among the 6 A21Ns. Hopefully it'll return to service soon. C9937 is still not yet flying. For the A330, 8781, 8783 and 8789 and 8763 are not flying.

PAL A350-1000 will not be equipped with heads up display, a option offered on modern aircrafts such as the A350-1000.

According to the VP of Safety and VP of Training of PAL there is no actual benefit on HUDs in A350-900s according to the pilots. Additionally it will add cost to the airline as the HUD is an option only offered by Airbus and training of pilots will have additional cost to get used to the feature.

Cebu Pacific just announced the start of their turboprop exodus.

E190s in PH carriers when? Siargao is an important market to be disconnected from NAIA.

Looks like DG is also shifting 1 of the 5 daily flights to USU to CRK starting 31st March.

DG6035 1110 CRK - 1240 USU D AT7
DG6036 1300 USU - 1445 CRK D AT7

This replaces DG6047/6048.

Having lived in Sapporo, I totally agree. Hokkaido summers are awesome and more mild compared to destinations further south, but unfortunately most of that leisure traffic is still concentrated on the winter. Hopefully it could eventually develop into a year-round destination but I'm glad it still pushed through (along with Qantas) after the fuel shortage concern that thankfully has since been alleviated by imports from Korea (link in Japanese.)

Intresting! I actually wondered if their any benefits to the HUD on pilot performance! It seem to be not the case! I wonder if PAL will removed them on the current A359 like with LH?

I remember the time when transponders were optional. PAL said the same thing now about HUD. While CEB had theirs for their airbuses, PAL just stride with theirs, without...until Airbus placed it mandatorily to newly ordered aircraft. Now they have transponders whether they like it or not. While having no benefit for pilots, It did wonders for AF447 in the Atlantic, and no benefit at all for MH370 when pilots turn it off.

HUD is actually old technology borrowed from the military and started commercial service in 1970. Its actually standard instrument for the B787s. Is this sourgraping for an aircraft they could not have, or diversions on what they ought to have?
