Looks like PR may take some CZ planes… but it’s their 77W that they’re getting instead.

Config is 28 J (1-2-1), 28 W and 305 Y
How many units?

The question there is when will these aircraft be available and join the fleet? Its because they need these aircraft yesterday!

DAL starting LAX-MNL next year?
Yap. In fact, 3 long haulers are expected to make MNL their new port of call. That is if plans don't miscarry.

China Southern looks to sell all 10 of its B787-8s, along with 2 spare GEnx engines

All 10 units have a C18Y248 config
Unfortunately, PAL isn't fond of the B787, the small kind. It's the same reason why they have no A332s, although they are operating 332s currently.

Still with PAL, If you haven't noticed it yet, Stanley is again castigated by BOD for telling how it is, the truth:

Philippine Airlines put out a clarification to PSE on Stanley Ng’s statement that PAL’s FY24 financial performance “[d]efinitely will be lower than last year.”
https://www.philstar.com/business/2024/11/25/2402644/pal-likely-end-2024-lower-earnings

In the clarification, PAL said Mr. Ng’s remark “reflects the context of PAL’s recently disclosed operational results”, and the general trend that “travels have normalized since last year”.

PAL continued to characterize Mr. Ng’s statement as a “cautious statement indicating a reasonable expectation that the company may not replicate the financial results achieved in the previous quarter.
https://edge.pse.com.ph/openDiscViewer.do?edge_no=f34fce73d6dda17aabca0fa0c5b4e4d0
After stating facts, Philstar whack crew made a laugh at it, saying the very obvious which all of us persistently complained here.

PAL reported a FY23 net income of P21 billion, but has only managed to book P8 billion in profit through the first nine months of FY24.

For the record, I am casting Mr. Ng as Bunny in the scene (I won’t link it because it’s marginally spicy), but only because it's his authentic and relatable statement that caused the PAL Brandt behemoth to lurch into its awkward laugh action. PAL’s trying to put lipstick on a pig. While I’m not a PAL shareholder, I’d be relieved to have Mr. Ng at the helm since it appears as though he’s able to see it for what it is and that’s crucial if the airline hopes to keep on flying as it has.

Maybe a forumer did it, or maybe a reader of this forum, perhaps.

Oh, for some reason I thought you were talking about new flights from next year since AF was this year (or more specifically next month).

Contrary to popular belief, ie the one you posted, flight AF208 is not happening this year. Flight begins April 1. One circumstance where intent does not work exactly as planned. Yan yung nangyayari if you bypass Australia.

Then DL will open LAX—MNL after AC. Poor PAL. Because of their "PAL is PAL" mentality, the competition has stepped up its game.

Am I getting what's been discussed here right? LT himself loves PAL and knew how to run the airline, the issue is that he is already very old and thus is no longer in control, and his family members are the ones who don't know how to run an airline? So the issue isn't LT himself but rather his family members and the BOD?

Also, in other news: it seems that Cebu Pacific is not ruling out the possibility of retaining the AirSWIFT brand even after acquiring it.

There is no such thing as "borrowing" under IATA rules. They are sister company though under Air France–KLM S.A

Of course they do. They just managed to pull the airline out of Chapter 11. They could have just let PAL go but they didn't.

The real issue is the BOD interfering in management decision. Considering its their own money, they have right to do so. They are not just as aggressive considering what they've been to compared to the likes of other airlines, ie CEB, which received capital boost and is now substantially owned by Indigo Partners LLC, and the likes of other Southeast asia airlines, which ownership reverted back to government after covid19. PAL stayed in private hands. For that its already achieving itself.

They (CEB) did say that prior to closing.

Re: Air Swift

If they do retain the brand, how could that work? Just keep the status quo and use it as a boutique airline, or expand AirSWIFT and turn it into a FSC subsidiary ala Batik Air?
