Do you think NNIC will build a service tunnel underneath runway 13/31 like originally planned? It would help those carriers in T3. I remember the whole issue back in the day was that airlines didn't want to go to T3 because a cargo terminal wasn't in proximity, but I don't recall them ever building one close to T3. Any insight?

That is part of the T5 design. It is still not clear how NNIC would implement it. We might be able to see their plans before the end of the year as they are going to be submitted to MIAA for approval.

According to RSA yesterday, Terminal 2 Annex (a.k.a Terminal 5) shall now be used exclusively by PAL domestic, while T2 shall be for CEB and AAP. After construction of T2 annex, T1 shall be converted to LCC international terminal, while T3 shall serve FSC carriers, including that of PAL.
We that in mind you could extrapolate what capacity T2 Annex would have.

small capacity terminal
how will T2 fit domestic bound aircraft of Cebu Pacific together with PH Air Asia Fleet |

I can see that this would benefit PAL well, especially if they make a proper connection between the T2 annex and T3. Plus, it would allow PAL to connect seamlessly to other international carriers. They would definitely need to expand t3 as well, especially lounge space. T3 would make for a good flagship lounge. That being said, I’ll believe it when I see it. RSA tends to talk first and do never. And I can imagine PAL would at least be partially pissed after their investments in the T1 Mabuhay lounge. But at the end of the day, T3 is so much better than T1 for intl-intl connections |

T3 expansion was already confirmed to be part of the plans, so I imagine PR moving to T3 would coincide with that.
I do think that T3 needs a renovation though. There are parts of it that feel really outdated despite being the newest of the major terminals. |

E-gates with biometrics verification will be rolled out in 6 months with no additional costs to the government and to the passengers but NNIC raised fees recently For the terminal 5 the construction will start on January 2026 and will be finished in 36 months |

I've been using e-gates for 5 years now. What they need is a faster scanner upgrade. It takes a while to read your passport.

Personally, I feel that this is a good thing. It’s okay to limit turboprop operations but not to phase them out entirely. As long as NAIA is the main airport, it has to have at least a once daily connection to major turboprop-only airports for the sake of good connectivity. The spillover can go to Clark or Cebu, but it would greatly help the provinces that depend on this connection to Manila |

So does this mean that Lufthansa Technik is on the way out after all, or the two will co-exist in NAIA? I don't know where SIA Engineering could have their facilities in MNL other than the existing Lufthansa Technik ones. |

Co-exist
LTP has been "rent-seeking" the government from the time LT took control of the airline in 1996. LTP has been paying P14.6 million per month, or about P65 per square meter since 2000 for a 25 year lease without rent escalation. It is similar to Makati property lent to Prieto family of PDI at anomalous lease rate, which Duterte ordered return. The LTP company has been grossly profitable earning P582 million in 2024. Then government privatize NAIA and all of its incidentals. Under the new rates, the lease will rise to P710 per square meter, or roughly P160.4 million monthly. Singapore Engineering is willing to pay that price. Why can't LTP? Something is not right. Read this to understand better. https://insiderph.com/naias-25-year-lease-reset-puts-pressure-on-lucio-tan-lufthansa-venture-with-3000-workers The current 25-year lease will expire on August 31, 2025. Since LTP couldn't afford to pay the vast apron they have to share it now with another MRO

the e-gates were actually a donation of SMC to the Government and it will be similar to Singapore (scan passport biometrics and the face)

Don't be naive. There is no such thing as donation in government. I like Vince, but sometimes he is not forthright. He is interpreting the circumstances wrong. SMC is obliged to put those things up. An obligation can and will never be defined as donation.

NAIA reshuffle happening next year, Z2's domestic ops will move to the new Terminal 4, LCCs with international flights on Terminal 1, PR and 5J Domestic on T2 and other international airlines on T3. T5 can be for domestic flights as well

Flew to and from Manila over the weekend via T3. My comment is the pick-up and drop-off area. For me, it is way better what it was before than parallel. It ate up 2 lanes for the pick-up and drop-off out of 3 lanes which cause traffic and clogging. |

Can they please please please build PROPER STOPS WITH SHELTERS AND WEATHERPROOFING for passing jeeps/buses so people don't have to walk to these areas exposed to the elements?
And on that note, I'm still so confused why bus routes that originate to and from NAIA are all P2P or have severely limited stops. I understand if the buses serve very distant locations (e.g. out-of-town) but for relatively shorter routes within the metro, it just makes bus operators spend more money because they need to station dedicated units all around the metro and reduces their flexibility. I don't know if this is just a bus operator thing or whoever is managing transport flow at the airport (MIAA/NNIC/LTFRB/etc) explictly disallow them from doing so. |

This question was answered 6 months ago.
Kaya nga tawag sa bus route "POINT to POINT" kasi direct service dapat sya. If the bus stop somewhere its not P2P anymore. The purpose is "passenger safety." They are not allowed to fetch passenger along the way. Until hotels requested some leniency so it stops near hotel chains for airport bound passengers and vice versa. Kasi nga airport transfer sya. Previously, passengers undergo security checks at different departure points going to NAIA. I already showed this forum a P2P bus and a regular bus plying NAIA if you backread sometime in March. ![]() Ito po yun byaheng EDSA. Multiple stop po yan. While this one is P2P, ie Robinsons Manila-NAIA. UBE Express operates almost all point-to-point buses, these bus services will only drop you off at NAIA at their designated stations. You can’t just get off anywhere you please during the trip. ![]() Its intended passengers are airport bound, all the time. Kaya nga lang there is no bus in reverse. Kasi most of them stops first at T1 to T3. So if you are air passenger from T3 going to T1 kailangan mo sumakay ng NAIA shuttle na ganito. Leaves every 15 minutes. Took it multiple times. Just show your plane ticket for that day. ![]() For the workers at NAIA ito yung papuntang pasay at edsa. But it doesn't stop at the airport complex. Kailangan mo maglakad papuntang skyway where the pedestrian line is sa T3. sa T2 naman sa ilalim ng departure ramp ang sakayan at babaan while sa T1 sa bus stop mismo. You can ride and stop anywhere you want. I hope this clears your mind a little bit.
