Now officially confirmed.

It was originally slated June 7 next year. It moved 4 months earlier now in March. And it has an evening slot too for summer 2028 flight.

Surely, it would look like PAL flight to SFO soon when UAL made it double daily, as there were plenty of empty front seats forcing them to consolidate flight and cancel others. It should be a good gauge for the 35k of both airlines, ie the battle between the 9ab and the 10ab Y on the LAX sector.

I guess PAL learned their lesson from UA. They have no room to be cocky with that "PAL is PAL" mindset. They just got a dose of their medicine from UA. I hope this time, BOD listens to the executives.

While PAL service is great, the old planes that are rostered in the MNL-LAX-MNL rotations are a real downside, and as someone based in LA, this is definitely a welcome development. I hope the newer planes see LAX regularly too. I feel like LAX is always last priority in getting the improved hard products (we always get the 777 with the old config flying here besides the occasional 350 visits).

Philippine Airlines has filed a petition with the Civil Aeronautics Board for additional flight allocations under the Philippines-India Air Services Agreement.

Under the bilateral treaty, airlines from both countries may operate up to 28 weekly flights between Manila and New Delhi, while enjoying unrestricted access to secondary airports in both markets.

The application marks PAL’s latest attempt to establish a foothold in one of Asia’s fastest-growing aviation markets.

15+5 is a good number and better than expected. 15 to replace the A330s plus some growth, plus an additional five for more growth. It only being an MoU is a bit surprising though since MoUs don't always eventuate. What happened then to the A35Ks?

PAL says that this marks 80 years of partnership with Boeing. Where did that number come from? I don't think PAL operated any Boeings before the 747-200s and their stint with the 727. Did they include their history with Douglas?

The press release from Boeing says:

As the largest variant of the 787 family, the 787-10 can fly 300-375 passengers up to 13,890 km (7,500 nautical miles), enabling PAL to meet rising travel demand.

I’m just confused because some people say that it’s max iMTOW will only realistically fly approx 12,500+ with full capacity and say Boeings stats are just marketing gloss.  But now in the article it says it can fly 300-375 passengers up to 13,890km. Is this just creative storytelling on Boeing’s part, highlighting the max range and capacity without mentioning constraints?

Even having LAX, or YVR using B787s can help if something goes tech or free up A35K aircraft for longer range routes.

The Airbus display aircraft are coming in. The A35K display is a generic aircraft. Was kinda hoping that the latest PAL A35K was going to be their showcase.

Perhaps they’ll announce the airbus order in Toulouse as they take delivery of the 3rd A35K? Or will we hear about it later in the day? Airbus hasn’t really announced much yet this airshow

Boeing and Philippine Airlines Announce Commitment for up to 20 787 Dreamliner Jets

FARNBOROUGH, United Kingdom, July 20, 2026 /PRNewswire(opens in a new tab)/ -- Boeing [NYSE: BA] and Philippine Airlines today announced the flag carrier has committed to order up to 20 787 Dreamliner jets. Once finalized, the agreement for 15 787-10 airplanes, with opportunity to purchase five more, will support Philippine Airlines' fleet modernization and expansion plans.

The 787-10 will complement PAL's fleet of 10 777 jets by expanding operational flexibility across the airline's medium- and long-haul route network.

Do you think PAL might sneak an order for A321neos to replace existing A321ceos? Maybe even some A321XLRs to open some long and thin routes?
