In fairness to CAPA they never did say PAL is going in that direction you mentioned. What was being presented is for PR to acquire premium economy seats. Perhaps more cushions than existing ones. There was never a story that the airline will buy new economy seats and reconfigure all the cabin to our liking. Both are not alike I should say.
The new premium economy product will debut on the A330 from 2017.
PAL has committed to acquiring new premium economy seats for eight of its 15 A330-300s and these aircraft will be retrofitted in 2017 and 2018. It is also acquiring new premium economy seats for the six A350-900s that it has ordered for delivery in 2018 and 2019.
And here lies the rub. The 365 seats is over 300 passengers.
Both the retrofitted A330-300s and new A350-900s will seat just over 300 passengers in three class configuration, including lie flat business, premium economy and standard economy seats
And the "plan".
PAL plans to retrofit the eight A330-300s in its fleet
And what the airline is actually saying.
At least for now, PAL plans to maintain the configuration on its seven dual class 368-seat A330-300s
So there, presented in its proper perspective.
