Re: PAL

With QR's massive 787 order which pushes the backlog further, you guys think that PAL will end up going for the A330neo as A330-300 replacements while the said 787 order is willing to be pushed back further as long as PAL doesn't like go of their 77Ws immediately?

I thought the rumor was that if PR were to get 787s, it would be via lessors?

That opportunity is gone. Already passed up.

It’s basically A330neos soon or 787s much later.

But even the A330neos are getting a backlog after the orders of CX, Flyadeal, and IAG.

Let’s see if Richard Nutall will be able to convince his board to make an order when Stanley couldn’t.

Maybe its not a firm order yet for now

Qatar is always ordering Boeing jets suddenly when a US president visited them like the time when they ordered 737max

He can't. His marching orders were to revamp the existing A330s and possibly 77w to be at par with a350s, while they find funds for B789 deployments in the next 8 years. In short, retrofit. So it is still Boeing. I think this was stated by Stan or his CFO before if i recall correctly. But impending orders are deferred further down the line, possibly late next year due to funding issues with the arriving 35k. Nutall would sort this out (fleet financing)  if he could and then order the first two frames on wet leases, and subsequent four on financial leases when airline finances could afford it. So you see the BOD is hell bent on controlling its expenditures to support its fleet growth. Just don't pressure them to cough more dough.

No rumors on whether or not he's going to work towards PR joining an alliance, or is that just not PR's priority at the moment?

Four A35Ks are already set to be built in Toulouse as their MSN nunbers are already allocated

One of them which is the first one has a test registration already which is F-WZFZ. No words yet for the final Philippine registration, anyone here knows?

What about GAP's ageing A320's, probably those need immediate attention I suppose?

There are 13 new A21N coming, Those are intended for mainline while old ones goes to 2P. Newer A320s is coming on lease while new orders is pushed further down the line too. So you see, everything is pushed further back.

Good insight on his plans from this, and the previously posted write up they did as well. Basically aligns with what you’re saying
That was what Stan was saying when he was proposing in 2022, retrofit or make new orders. Even the retrofit is pushed a little further. So its now clear what they are doing.

Does that mean the future of GAP's narrow bodies will still be Airbus and not those Max 9?

Heard this plan personally this January. PR wants a consistent product across its fleet. I wonder if the first ceo has entered cabin retrofit. I’m hoping PR includes a third lavatory.

Re: PAL

Evodesire
Question now is, why can't PAL sign an MoU for more planes as fleet replacement plus additional capacity and get them delivered 2029 or 2030 onwards? Backlog is growing by heaps and bounds. Also, PAL still lacks widebodies unless they plan to get back those four A359s from LH.

With the plan to have a more consistent product for PAL, will we bid goodbye to those "SMC cabin" A330s? So much negative feedback about PAL's planes being too old. A350s with no water, A320s with broken seats and taped armrests. Everything is so mediocre but the fares are not.

When will those new A320ceo arrive?

There are a lot of A320ceo in the wild waiting for its operators since the P&W problem is getting fixed and sorted out by airlines

I'm hoping they will refurbished their A330-300 to either a duel-class with large Business Class cabin from doors 1 through 2 with 28~32 seat or similar to the Tri-class configuration with 309 seats!

So assuming LH will return the four A350-900 either this year or by 2028? (Base on a 6 year least without extention), along with 6 to 9 A350-1000 if the option for three additional A35K is firmed this would give PAL between 15~18 A350 XWB along with the potential for 1~4 more A330-300  which maybe added back? But who knows! For a total of 12~15. Along with the ten Boeing 777-300ER and potential eight B787-9 Dreamliner (Assuming they don't replace the A330 1:1).

Its not AND between A359 and B789. It is OR. So if PAL takes the 359 back there is no need for the 789. The difference between the two just happens to be $150,000 per month favoring the Boeing. If you buy them both brand new, the difference in prices is whooping $16 million favoring the Boeing. So now you know why they prefer Boeing.
