Tried with PALEx TAC to CGY via CEB. In TAC, I checked in my luggage with baggage tag saying to CGY but for the boarding pass, you have to fall in line to do a check-in at the counter.

It's two airlines so you will have to retrieve your luggage at Mactan arrival, then pass thru the transit corridor for check-in with Cebpac on the onward flight. The other carrier is not responsible for your luggage transfer unless they have a code share. Always advisable if you have a choice to do one airline so if the first leg is delayed you can claim your right for carriage for the missed connection.

Not necessarily, and if you ask nicely, the check-in agent can check your luggage through to your final destination. Once, I flew with PR from MNL to HKG, and with LH from HKG to LHR via FRA on separate bookings. My luggage was checked through to LHR without a hitch. The agent just got my LH flight details and checked the luggage through. Not always possible of course (e.g. if you fly with FR or EZY), but it doesn't hurt if you ask.

Really?, and you're saying no code share with PAL and LH from HK onwards? Why would a PAL agent facilitate your luggage to another airline if they don't have some sort of arrangement. Have you tried doing it the other way with an LH agent?

I think the OP was talking about domestic transfer at Mactan. Lets concentrate our discussion to that.

From experience, you get your bag at the destination if you happen to book the same airline. I'm not so sure about international, but from my experience in MNL, they don't do that kind of service if you don't have through ticket. And even if you have a through ticket but the airline doesn't have an interline agreement with the other, It would still not be possible.

I will be traveling from Puerto Princesa to Butuan via Cebu Mactan Airport under a single ticket purchased on the Philippine Airlines website, including prepayments for excess baggage to the final destination. What I really want to know is how Philippine Airlines manages the transit of passengers in domestic connections in Cebu and what is required for its passengers as in my case once I arrive in Cebu. Thanks again for your help.

In PPS have your bags checked through to BXU... your boarding pass to BXU should read Transfer Pass at the top.

Once you reached CEB, just walk up to the departure lounge, you have to cross though to the next building from arrivals. then walk up the ramp to the departure level. Just show your boarding pass with the terminal fee ticket from PPS. Then wait for your flight to BXU at the predep area.
