AirAsia co-founder Tony Fernandes met with officials from Malaysia’s Finance Ministry two weeks ago to discuss potential government support for South-east Asia’s largest low-cost airline, said three sources with knowledge of the matter.

The talks reflect growing government concerns about the financial health of the country’s largest domestic carrier following a spike in jet fuel prices, the sources said.

So MIA is offering incentives to airlines that want to fly TYO-MIA.

PAL was already looking at serving MIA via YVR, but they can also try serving it via NRT. They have spare 77Ws, and they can totally give it a go. If there are incentives, that'll make it even better. PAL can serve that route for a lower cost than JL and AA, and once they enter Oneworld, connections on both ends shouldn't bee an issue.

Sounds lucrative - hope PAL seriously considers it.

Oneworld has announced simplified check in, PAL would need to integrate this ahead of it's entry next year
