Re: PR’s A359

Of course. Because that would be the end of its leaseback. By that time it would already be old framewise logging 16 years of service. Its intended routes replaced by 3rd generation 35k. I have fond memories of it riding alone in the row all by myself during covid times. It was also the time when we were the only ones at Terminal 1.

Re: PAL

Lets do it the other way around without UA bias.

This is actually the reason why PAL considers IAH as next destination after ORD.

Texas is home to approximately 300,000 Filipino residents in 2025, making it the third-largest Filipino community in the United States after California and Hawaii. Think about how big this untapped growing market is. Data provided below is from 2020 statistics

https://aapidata.com/featured/filipino-americans-by-the-numbers/#pop-state

According to American Community Survey, United States Census Bureau (2022), California holds the largest Filipino American settlement, followed by Hawaii, Nevada, Texas, Illinois, New York, New Jersey, Washington State, and Virginia respectively.

I won't be surprised if they go back to LAS after IAH.

What is stopping PR from resuming AKL or from ANZ launching MNL? NZ has a large and growing Philippine population, and I don't know if the yields when PR operated MNL-AKL were bad or not. The Filipino population has only grown since then too.

NZ economy is not doing great. Pinoys in NZ are jumping ship to Australia. Air New Zealand is also not doing great.

As for PR, they only have four tri-class A330s left. Melbourne is going daily. Brisbane gets upgauged to a wide body during peak season. Conditions on both sides aren’t conducive to restarting flights.

Sixth PAL A350-1000 already spotted, a notable skip in its registry (RP-C3552)

Can PAL revise its contracts for the remaining A35Ks to use 9 abreast cabin instead? Time will tell

PAL said goodbye to 1 A330 bi-class, 8763. Which leaves them with 4 frames: 64, 65, 66 and 71; 4 tri-class frames: 80, 83, 86 and 89 and 2 hybrids: 81 and 82. Total of 10 A330s.

For A321ceo, 9925 is now added to the refurbished CEOs, making it the 7th frame: 05, 06, 07, 18, 19, 25 and 28. 11 frames still with the SMC configuration: 01, 02, 03, 09, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 26 and 29.
8th frame, 9909 has been refurbished to the new config. Nearly 50% of the ceos has been refurbished 8/18. Hopefully they can finish the refurbishing next year to have a consistent narrowbody product

Alaska Airlines is putting Asia-Pacific at the centre of its international expansion, with the airline planning to grow to 15 international destinations overall by 2030.

The airline currently operates international flights from its Seattle hub to destinations including Tokyo and Seoul, but more Asia-Pacific routes are on the way.

Andrew Harrison, Chief Commercial Officer at Alaska Airlines, says the airline is currently deciding which destinations to add next, with further announcements coming before the end of 2026.

Will they mount flights to Manila or just partner with PAL since they are in one alliance?

Will this now allow them to have all Japan flights either on the Neos or refurbished?

Most likely yes, but of course with limited frames, there would always be the occasional last minute swap especially during unscheduled maintenance.

Speaking of LAX, PAL intends to fly 21 flights a week by March next year. Perhaps pre-empting a similar attack by Delta which intend to double LAX by December also next year. This is going to be interesting.

I find it ironic that the day flights get the new plane when they have the nicer suites while the night flights get the old product.

Or maybe that’s on purpose. More people will be awake to enjoy the new product while on night flights people just sleep

Aside from additional flights, will PAL launch new routes next year as other widebodies are getting vacant with more A35Ks arriving

Should be aircraft rotation related why PR112 gets the A35K instead of PR102.

Yep, I just saw the wintertime table and PR intends to fly 21X a week to LAX. Sad to see SFO gets left behind.
