The report is fairly accurate. Its got more cash to burn than its peers. And that is without government intervention, unlike their peers which were rescued by their respective governments. That in itself is already an achievement.

Looks like Air New Zealand is plotting a (relaunched?) flight to Auckland with Manila being number 3 after London and India as priority destinations. Of course, lack of aircraft and engine troubles are putting a damper on acting on these plans immediately.
I’m sure the slot issue in MNL is also another problem they’re having to face... https://www.executivetraveller.com/news/air-new-zealand-flights-to-manila-india-london |

It’s already November. Just curious about how things are going for PAL. On the A321CEO retrofit - Press releases say that at least 2 more planes are supposed to be retrofitted this year. Is that going on? Which frames are next? On the A350-1000 deliveries - PAL’s A35K has yet to make its first flight. Has it even been photographed with engines? Will it really make delivery this year? Seems like supply chain issues are gonna hit On the remaining A321NEOs - Any update on when the MSNs are gonna be available? Are they really going for 2026 deliveries? And how are the issues with Pratt? Is the existing NEO fleet finally fully operational? |
9919 by this November 9906 by next month 9932, 33 and 37 still inactive. |

Philippine Airlines will upgrade its workhorse Boeing 777 and Airbus A330 jets with new business class suites, potentially using the same design as will debut on its forthcoming Airbus A350-1000 fleet.
An upgrade to Philippine Airlines’ Boeing 777 and Airbus A330 fleet is also on the way, as part of a wide-ranging fleet modernisation program. Nuttall said this won’t begin until late 2027, however. “It is going to probably take about three years before we can start,” adding that Philippine Airlines faces “the same supply chain issues” as the rest of the industry. “As soon as those seats are available, we will be refurbishing and we are looking at doing it on 330s and 777s.” The refurbishment program is estimated at $14-$15 million for the A330s alone, more for the Boeing 777, Nuttall added: “a lot of money, but cheaper than buying new aircraft.” https://www.executivetraveller.com/news/philippine-airlines-new-777-a330-business-class |

I guess this should put to rest the rumors that the 777s will be retired in favor of the A35Ks, at least in the medium-term. Where could the 777s be deployed then if the A35Ks will take over much of the North America flying?
|
I think it was mentioned before that it will be redirected to the middle east? PR could actually shrink the J section to 26-30 to accommodate more ECY seats. the seat pitch for ecy could be reduced a little bit, somewhere similar to the A333s triclass so that when it do subs for NorthAm, still bearable for pax |

Philippine Airlines (PAL) saw its net income in the third quarter soar by 62 percent to $22 million as it continues to implement its strategic transformation plan.
Total revenues for the three months ending Sept 30, 2025 rose by 3 percent to $755 million, supported by an increase in flight operations and steady passenger volume of 3.8 million, PAL said in a statement. https://business.inquirer.net/557706/philippine-airlines-profit-soared-62-in-q3/amp |

So it indeed took a foreigner for PAL to realize how important consistency and customer experience is. Before Nuttall, it seemed like PAL never cared about customer experience, all they cared about was bowing down to whatever the Tans wanted.
